Mantel Care Appreciation
Every year, the municipality of Geertruidenberg appreciates informal caregivers with a sum of money or a VVV card. This because informal caregivers mean a lot in the care for their loved one(s). Surplus arranges this appreciation.
When can you apply for adult appreciation?
You are 18+ and care or support your partner, child, family member or friend for at least 3 months, 8 hours a week. Then you are a caregiver. The person for whom you provide care or support is the care recipient. The care recipient lives independently or in a care location in the municipality of Geertruidenberg (Raamsdonk, Raamsdonksveer or Geertruidenberg). As a caregiver yourself, you do not have to be in the municipality Geertruidenberg to live. Young caregivers between the ages of 12 and 18 can apply for the appreciation through youth work: jongerenwerk.geertruidenberg@surplus.nl
Out.of.love
Informal care is often done out of love for the other person. You share feelings, care and love with each other. Sometimes this goes well, sometimes it just doesn't work out. What if
because of care that love is out for a while? You are not loving yourself or others for a while? Do you express yourself? During the week of informal care, Surplus pays attention by sharing stories of informal caregivers, via podcasts and posters.
When do you qualify for informal care appreciation?
If you provide unpaid care for a family member, partner, child or friend for at least 3 months per year, at least 8 hours per week. You are 24 years of age or older.
The person you care for is the care recipient and lives at home or in a care location in the in the municipality of Geertruidenberg. As an informal caregiver you
not live in the municipality. The appreciation must be applied for every year. As a caregiver, you can apply for an appreciation for one person. If the caretaker passed away after April 1, 2024, you can still apply for an appreciation this year. If there are more family caregivers per care recipient, the appreciation will be divided between them.
Good to know
· You can apply for the informal care appreciation from November 1 through December 31.
· The informal care appreciation must be reapplied for each year. Even if your
situation has not changed.
· As a caregiver, you can receive one appreciation.
· If the caregiver died after April 1, you may still request an appraisal this year.
· Per care recipient, max. 4 informal caregivers can apply for an appreciation. If more informal caregivers are involved then you must share appreciation together.
· If you receive payment for support then you cannot request a rating.
· You will be notified if your application has been approved.
· You will receive the appreciation in the new year between January and March.

· If your application for appreciation is rejected, you will be notified by mail.
